Bee Movie: In Theaters Nov. 2!
Bee Movie will be in movie theaters in just one month! Bee Movie is a production of DreamWorks, which produced Shrek and other popular animated movies. Bee Movie was written by comedian Jerry Seinfeld, who also provides the voice of the movie’s main character, Barry Bee. Other famous stars lending their voices include Renee Zellweger, Kathy Bates, Chris Rock and John Goodman.
The movie is expected to generate positive publicity about beekeeping and highlight the important role bee pollination plays in plant production. For more information, visit www.beemovie.com.
Bee Movie Promotional Materials Available!
NHB has produced Bee Movie promotional materials for producers and packers to use at retail and farmers markets. The materials also could be used by beekeepers and beekeeping organizations at honey promotion events at their local movie theater during the movie’s opening weekend.

NHB has launched a New Bee Movie “Honey Time” Web Site
featuring graphics from Bee Movie. The site includes a link for kids with honey snack ideas and “Real Bee Facts” and a link for Moms with honey beauty tips and recipes. The site has links to both Bee Movie and NHB. http://www.honey.com/beemovie
Happy Anniversary Stickers Available

NHB Celebrates National Honey Month with a Giant Honey Bear

To commemorate National Honey Month, NHB, along with architect Bryan Berg, constructed a 13- foot tall honey bear out of 3,000 smaller honey bears. The bear was constructed on Sept. 18 at Citigroup Center in New York City. After the Bear Build-a-Thon, the honey was donated to the New York Food Bank.

Rosh Hashanah Honey Recipes
NHB featured special Rosh Hashanah honey recipes on its web site in September in commemoration of the Jewish New Year that began on the evening of September 12. For many Jewish families, the holiday meal starts with apples dipped in honey. The apples signify the fruits of the harvest and honey the hoped-for sweetness of the year. Honey also plays a prominent role in many other traditional dishes prepared especially for this sweetest of Jewish holidays.
National Honey Board to Meet in Denver in October

Almond Consumption Up 64%
U.S. almond consumption rose 64% in 2006/07 over the previous season to 1.01-lbs. per person. While consumption was below the peaks reached in 2002/03 and 2003/04, it was still higher than any other year in the past decade and an upward trend in consumption appears to be occurring, according to the Economic Research Service's Fruit and Tree Nuts Outlook report. http://www.ers.usda.gov/Publications/FTS/2007/09Sep/FTS329.pdf
20 Years of Sweet Success: Looking Back
In 2007, NHB is celebrating its 20th anniversary. NHB will periodically highlight in BeeMail various milestones accomplished throughout the last 20 years.
October 2001 - NHB releases a new brochure “Bee Fit” to keep kids fit and healthy. The brochure includes cartoons, tips and trivia on how kids can stay fit and healthy with exercise and good nutrition. The brochure includes recipes for high-energy honey snacks.
October 2004 - NHB reveals 11 new honey product concepts at its New Products Showcase in Kansas City, Missouri. NHB presents honey as an integral ingredient and purchase incentive in breakthrough applications such as extruded corn chips, blendable beverage syrup, processed poultry coating, enriched adult nutrition beverage, drinkable yogurt and honey and balsamic vinegar (contains no sulfites).
