Whether you are into sweet or savory, there is nothing like a delicious and nutritious breakfast (and let's admit, there is always a place for the less nutritious breakfast treat from time to time). With so many different ways to start your day, there is always a good argument to be made for breakfast.

As we continue our Honey at Breakfast blog series, this week we are switching gears and looking at the savory side of the morning and the tasty benefits of another single-ingredient item - the incredible egg!

Not only are eggs essential in many recipes from baked goods to sauces, they are also versatile on their own with countless ways to be prepared and enjoyed. Though small, protein-rich eggs are mighty in the nutrition arena and serve as a source of many beneficial vitamins and other nutrients. According to Healthline.com, eggs also play a role in reducing heart disease, promoting eye health, and may even help you reduce your risk of stroke and lose weight. And for those worried about the cholesterol content of eggs, studies have shown that your liver compensates for the added cholesterol to keep your blood cholesterol balanced, and eggs are even a good way to increase your HDL ("Good") cholesterol.

Around here we are definitely into single-ingredient foods (there should only ever be one ingredient in your honey - honey!) and eggs are a definitive favorite. From breakfast pizza and burgers to a basic bagel, there are few things that can't be made better with the addition of honey and a perfectly cooked egg.
