Zesty Honey Citrus Tahini
YIELD: Makes 3 cups (24 fl. oz.)
INGREDIENTS
1 jar (16 oz.) - sesame tahini
3 T - honey
2 T - fresh minced garlic
1/2 cup - fresh lemon juice
1/2 cup - fresh lime juice
1/2 cup - fresh orange juice
1/4 cup - gluten-free soy sauce or tamari
1/8 - 1/4 tsp. - cayenne pepper
1 T - lemon zest
DIRECTIONS
Place all ingredients except the zest in a stainless bowl or small Cambro. Process with a stick blender until smooth, then stir in the zest.
Cover, label, and date. Store refrigerated for up to 7 days.
TIP
This is a go-to sauce for serving with grilled chicken or veggies, dollop on salads, or rice bowls. A pantry condiment must.
Chef’s Notes:
- You can add other zests to this recipe, such as lime or orange.
- For a Latin spin, replace the lemon with more lime juice and process in 1/2 a bunch of fresh cilantro, avocado, and a few pickled jalapeños. Delete the soy and season with kosher salt.
- For more intense flavor, add more garlic, soy, and honey.
- When serving sprinkle with toasted white and black sesame seeds.
- Add in your favorite ground spices, such as curry, cumin, or coriander.
