With 2025 in full buzz, now is the perfect time to reflect on health goals and habits for the year ahead. Many people start the year by putting down the cocktails and picking up the mocktails for Dry January! This month-long break from alcohol offers a chance to reset, refresh, and focus on overall well-being. Since alcohol is linked to various health ailments from headaches and nausea to more serious effects, taking a break can allow for a wellness and lifestyle reset.
But just because you’re taking a pause on alcohol doesn't mean you have to give up delicious drinks! Mocktails can just be as satisfying and feature a variety of natural and fresh ingredients with positive impacts for your health. One standout addition to a mocktail? Honey! Its natural sweetness elevates any recipe, whether you're following a mocktail recipe or creating something new from scratch.
A recent study funded by the National Honey Board found that choosing honey instead of table sugar can help reduce added sugar intake and lower calories while achieving the same sweetness. The research shows that 0.6 Tbsp of honey provides the same sweetness as 1 Tbsp of table sugar – meaning you can use less honey without sacrificing the sweetness or taste of your mocktails!
This January, the National Honey Board is teaming up with some mocktail mixology experts to provide you with inspiration for your Dry January sips – and non-alcoholic beverages all year long! Follow along at @nationalhoneyboard on Instagram.
