It's pretty obvious that we at the National Honey Board are big fans of September – and it's not because the heat of the summer is cooling off and we get to wear sweet fall fashions – but with the majority of honey being harvested during this month, we can all agree that September, also known around this hive as National Honey Month, really is the sweetest month of the year!
Where did National Honey Month come from? Well, the NHB has always recognized the importance of honey bees and the benefits of honey. So, in 1989, the NHB worked with the U.S. Department of Agriculture to give honey the praise that it's due and thus September was officially deemed National Honey Month.
