In the world of snacks, the search for something that's both delicious and nutritious never ends, especially with snacking occasions blending into multiple dayparts. Almost half of consumers are snacking at least three times per day, and an astounding 74% of consumers have had a snack in place of a meal at least once per week. Meat snacks infused with the natural sweetness of honey provide more than just a delicious flavor marriage of savory and sweet. They’re also designed to satisfy cravings while delivering a boost of protein and energy—a hearty, convenient and more nutritious pick-me-up that makes for a great choice for consumers to grab in a rush.
Consumers’ love for meat snacks has galvanized growth and competition in this food/snacking category, and during the New Meat Snack Opportunities webinar, a few interesting stats were brought to attention:
- 63% said taste was the most important factor when choosing a snack
- 41% said it was very important for snacks to be made with familiar flavors; 48% said it was somewhat important
- 54% say snacks are an important part of a healthy daily eating plan
- 60% of consumers said they actively seek snack items that are good for them, with “high in protein” being key
- The top important factor in shopping in 2023 was natural ingredients, closely followed by high protein content
Based on this research, sticks, jerky and other shapes, sizes and types of meat are well-positioned for even bigger growth, especially heading into the end of the year. Add honey to the formula, and you may have a best seller just like these great made-with-honey meat snacks.
