Sweets & Snacks Expo Showcases Innovative Honey Products

There’s no doubt that consumers — and manufacturers — have spent more time at home the last two years than ever before. Bridging the gap between at-home inspiration and in-person purchases was a major theme of the 2022 Sweets & Snacks Expo.

Market research firm IRI’s Sally Lyons Wyatt opened the trade show speaking about how consumers first go digital before they shop in person. For the past two years, consumers have been searching online for what will emerge from the pandemic. They’ve been comparison shopping, finding new innovations and clamoring to finally taste test what manufacturers have been inventing for store shelves. This year’s Expo mirrored that shopping experience in a business-to-business setting. The new show app allowed our team to pre-shop for the coolest made-with-honey products that would appear on the show floor, and then taste test them in person at the event.

We found quite a few made-with-honey snacks and confections, each with unique positioning that satisfied a market trend — and our taste buds.

Honey Cinnamon Peanut Butter, Chocolate Bars RXBAR

We’ve been big fans of RX Bar’s clean label, to-the-point packaging that features ingredients on the front of the package. So, we were thrilled to see two brand new varieties appear at the trade show: Honey Cinnamon Peanut Butter and Chocolate. Both bars feature 10 grams of protein, “two teaspoons of honey” and a soft and crispy texture that makes these one of our favorite made-with-honey bar lines on the market.

Honey Roasted No Shell Wonderful Pistachios

The perfect source of plant protein coated with Mother Nature’s sweetener, this pistachio snack provides consumers with six grams of complete plant protein and three grams of fiber per serving.

Knotty Snacks Honey Mustard Pretzels

This booth was especially fun, playing on the notion that these Honey Mustard pretzels are the Official Pretzel of Beer. Beer and pretzels surely go together historically, but there was something about the vibe at the Sweets & Snacks Expo booth that tied together the nostalgia.

Nutty Gourmet Honey Walnuts

The Nutty Gourmet family has been farming walnuts in California’s Central Valley for four generations. One of our favorite seasoned nut offerings was the company’s Honey Walnuts.

Soldier Boy Beef Jerky Original Variety

This veteran-owned beef jerky company’s original variety is sweetened with honey, and the company is making its mark on the show circuit with eye-catching packaging. The jerky is slow-smoked in small batches, and a portion of the sales goes to donating more jerky to deployed U.S. troops and the K9s for Warriors Program.
