National Honey Board Appoints 2021 Board Members and Alternates

LONGMONT, Colo. (February 1, 2021) – The National Honey Board (NHB) is pleased to announce its newest board member and alternate positions, appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Purdue. Secretary Purdue selects and appoints members to the Board after reviewing all qualified nominations from certified national organizations.

The following new appointees will serve three-year terms beginning Jan. 1, 2021 through Dec. 31, 2023.

  • First Handlers: Christopher Olney (Member), Nancy Seaquist (Alternate), Eric S. Wenger (Alternate)
  • Producers: Joan Gunter (Member), Blake Shook (Alternate)
  • Importer: Greg Olsen (Member), Arlen Penner (Alternate)

“We are thrilled to welcome the new and returning members to the National Honey Board,” said Margaret Lombard, CEO. “The depth of knowledge and expertise these individuals bring to the Board is invaluable.”

Michelle Poulk, who served a vice-chairperson in 2020, was elected as the new chairperson. Maren Marten, who joined the board in 2019, will now serve as vice-chairperson. Lisa Hansel was re-elected as secretary treasurer. For a full board member list, please visit the NHB website.
