The National Honey Board and Justin’s Donate to Project Apis m.

Erie, Colo. (August 26, 2024) - There is some sweet news when it comes to honey bee health funding! The National Honey Board (NHB) and Justin’s commemorated National Pollinator Month in June with a $50,000 donation in a collaborative effort to further fund research to improve bee health for Project Apis m. (PAm), a nonprofit dedicated to advancing honey bee through research and conservation initiatives.

Project Apis m. has embedded the pillars of collaboration and science-driven solutions into its DNA to impact the honey bee industry positively. PAm funds practical research supporting beekeeper priorities focused on actional outcomes with over $13 million invested in 176 research studies. Emerging threats to honey bee health and vitality make donations from industry partners like Justin’s and the NHB crucial in providing practical tools and solutions to support bee health and pollination security.

Justin's, a category leader known for crafting delicious, real-food products, demonstrated their dedication by contributing a $25,000 donation, reinforcing their pledge to support research that enhances bee health. Justin's further extends its support through the NHB’s Honey Saves Hives initiative, underscoring their sustained commitment to honey bee conservation efforts.

"Donations from the National Honey Board and Justin's are vital for our continued success because they enable us to advance crucial research and support initiatives that directly address honey bee health challenges,” says Danielle Downey, executive director, Project Apis m. “Their commitment helps us drive impactful projects that not only benefit the bees but also contribute to the sustainability of agriculture as a whole which allows us to make significant strides in safeguarding these essential pollinators and the variety of healthy flavors and food choices they make possible. We are incredibly grateful for their support, which allows us to make significant strides in safeguarding these essential pollinators."

Expanding beyond their ongoing commitment to allocate 5 percent of annual revenue towards production research managed by PAm, the NHB has made a significant additional contribution of $25,000 in 2024. Over the years, the NHB has funded more than $5 million in crucial research studies.

"Supporting Project Apis m. with our donation underscores our commitment to the health of honey bees, which are essential for honey production and crop pollination,” says Margaret Lombard, chief executive officer, National Honey Board. “By investing in research and initiatives that enhance bee health, we’re not only ensuring the sustainability of our food supply, but also supporting the entire ecosystem that relies on honey bee pollination.”
