The National Honey Board (NHB) is pleased to announce the extension of their partnership with three-time Gold Medalist Kerri Walsh Jennings, of beach volleyball fame. In an effort to increase awareness about her go-to energy booster, the professional athlete and mother of three is turning to honey once again. Jennings is currently ranked number one by the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) along with her partner April Ross going into the 2015 season, which is just underway. It's only fitting that this superstar uses the beloved golden, natural sweetener and culinary ingredient honey, which received its own accolades in the culinary world as the 2015 Flavor of the Year from Firmenich. Jennings can't keep gold off her mind as she hopes to take home another gold medal in Rio next summer.

Following a successful partnership in 2014, Jennings shared a glimpse into the role honey played in her everyday life on the road or at home. From snacking on crusted chicken tenders with honey-mustard dipping sauce with her kids, giving her husband a teaspoon of honey to suppress that pesky cough, to applying honey directly to her lips for added moisture on sunny days, Jennings truly turns to honey to keep a balanced lifestyle for her whole family.

"Honey is an ingredient that I started incorporating into my routine years ago as a natural boost of energy on the sand because it is just one ingredient," explains Jennings. "Now going into my second year with the National Honey Board, I'm excited to continue to spread the knowledge of honey being named flavor of the year, when it has always been one of my personal favorites, year after year."

Throughout 2015, Jennings will be prepping for her road to the gold with the support of honey. Not only will she be highlighting the ways she already uses honey and giving consumer tips, but the NHB will be seen in the summer supporting Jennings at select major volleyball competitions during the AVP season.

"The National Honey Board is thrilled to continue our partnership with Kerri Walsh Jennings as many folks have their eyes on Kerri and honey this year. She steps closer to her possible fifth Olympic appearance next year, and honey is being recognized as flavor of the year. Kerri continues to be a role model to many as a mother, wife, leader in her community and a world-renowned athlete, who represents honey's multifaceted and wholesome characteristics," shares Catherine Barry, director of marketing for the NHB. "Last year we learned a lot from Kerri on the unique ways she incorporates honey into her busy schedule to help keep her on top of her game, so we are excited to help educate consumers on ways they can do the same in their everyday life."
