Honey Bee on Lavender

Earlier this year we wrote a blog post about our new pollinator-inspired recipes for the plate and promised to return with a fun garden to glass edition. Well, here we are with beverages in hand!

As we talked about in our previous post (which you will find here), this year we here at the National Honey Board (NHB) wanted to really celebrate pollinators in our new recipe development. As vital members of our ecosystem, honey bees pollinate more than 90 crops, including many of the fruits, vegetables and nuts that we enjoy on a regular basis. But in addition to the delicious foods we see on our plates, these honey bee-pollinated ingredients also make flavorful beverages.

This week we are sharing eight brand new beverages that are naturally flavored by honey and feature a variety of honey bee-pollinated ingredients. But why do we say “flavored by honey” and not “sweetened by honey”? Well simply, because honey does so much more in beverages than just adding sweetness. In fact, honey adds depth to the most complex cocktail and mocktail recipes by balancing and enhancing the flavor profiles of other ingredients. Make sweet and sour a little sweeter and mask bitter tastes all with honey!

So whether you're throwing a margarita fiesta or brewing up your favorite iced tea for a backyard cookout, honey makes your beverages shine like gold!

We hope you enjoy these honey bee-inspired beverages just as much as we do.

We want to hear from you! Which of these honey beverages are you most excited to try? Let us know in the comments below.
